| Hello everyone. As everyone might have noticed already there is a lot of useless loaded chunks in NamelessCraft map. As useless I mean that there's chunks that no one lives on, nor uses them. People over-exaggerated and explored too much chunks in our world, without even thinking that would cause it too lag or the file size would be much bigger. Right now the size of our world is 3.6GB (too much isn't it?) and dynmap is causing the server having too much lag, so we will disable it until we get this solved. Me and Nathan were thinking that we could unload the chunks of our map, but it's not possible in game, we will have to use a software called MCedit to unload them. And then upload them back to the host, that would take a few hours! =P But either way, it would help alot with lag and the file size. Please give us your opinion and discuss about this. ---------------------------- [Only admins are allowed to see this image] So this is the graphs of the chunks I am thinking to unload from our map. The roads between the fake spawn and original spawn are kinda useless in my opinion, because no one uses them at all, everyone uses the nether for travelling. Also, if anyone knows if there's buildings in those chunks, please let me know. I will make sure if there's nothing there anyway, when travelling with mcedit. Everyone agrees with this? Give me your opinions.

| Anything for less lag. I'd give up a whole week of MineCraft if it would reduce lag. It only sounds logical to do so. |

| Why has this only started now really? It was fine on the old host. |

Not now, I am speaking about general lag. And we already had this idea a few months ago but we never did it. Also, the size counts. You are forgetting that we take long to do backups if the size is too big. |

| yes, go for it I also think that the world is unnecessarily too big with "useless" loaded chunks reducing lag would be awesome |

| Hmmm is there a way to check a chuck is completely unused? I'm mainly thinking about underground buildings, that may not be obvious? Tunnels and such?
Overall I think it is a good idea though, as long as we are very selective about the chunks we unload. As Teyto says, it would be good for future updates, making things easier to find. Is this something we could do in the Nether as well, to get some Quartz closer to us all? |

| I agree, quartz is so far away and out of reach. Reloading the Nether chunks to get new quartz would be helpful. I need a nice flat plains area to build a wild horse center so it can be easy to find them. |

| I have mixed feelings on this too. I guess if you can tell the chunk has not been built in. |

| if only there was an option to unload any chunk that hasn't been modded by a player.
might have to do it in pieces over a month so you don't mess anything up. |

| Hello again guys.
So I tested the chunk deletion with one of my singleplayer worlds and I found that is an actually fast process. The slowest process of this, would be the uploading.
Decreases alot the size of the world, which will help alot with the lag and uploading world times. The thing is that when a chunk is deleted/unloaded, the chunk will turn how it originally was, deleting all buildings or caves that chunk might have. For those who doesn't understand what I mean, for example if you place a block in that chunk or chopped down trees, when deleted, the trees will came back and the block will disappear.
It's why I will carefully choose the chunks to unload. I already have some in mind, those who are uselessly made in the ocean or the bottom of the main map, but I will soon install dynmap to have everyone's opinion before deleting them.
I will make a scheme then post it soon. |

| It looks good to me. Removing the long paths that leads to nowhere can really help our map load! What are in those red circles? |

| In my opinion you can unload all the chunks by the Hunger arena too (yes even the ones I modified) as I can go back into them I just did exploring nothing special |
