So the area around the nether fortress where the wither farm is going needs to be mined out. and eventually half-slabbed to prevent pigmen/ghasts from reducing our spawning rates.

With a radius or 128m that's a lot of nether that needs to be deleted. I've been using TNT+redstone for the last few days and it's lonely work.

It would be nice to have some company once each week to help slay the ghasts and mine out all that quartz and netherack. I'm often online on Saturday mornings from 10am onwards (GMT).

Anyone up for a team netheracking?

I'll probably do some work later in the day, will probably be out or sleep at that time

Once enough netherrack is cleared , we can start removing Fortress too, but please no one touch it until I say so !

So I got some mining done with Mefiles today. He has made siginificant progress on the NW quarter while I have worked some more on the NE quarter. I found it disorientating to try to work on the unfamiliar NW quarter. But we found that with two of us there the ghast spawning was unworkable. Like a dozen ghasts at any one time. Then we made a breakthrough....

I went to the blaze farm to enchant some armor and we found that the blaze maxed out the mob cap and reduced/prevented spawning at the wither mining area.

TL:DR we need a person to AFK at the blaze farm during any intensive wither mining sessions to prevent ghasts from spawning

This is actually one of the reasons I havn't been to the witherfarm recently because of all the ghasts! But if this trick work I am happy to get back and blow some stuff up! =)

A few are working on it right now

There will surely be a way to keep the blaze farm chunks loaded once enough blaze have spawned. I'm working on that in a test world right now.
