The mushroom biome portal never had a tunnel since Carter built the portal when he found the biome a long time ago. The only way to get to the portal is a risky. You had to go all the way down the tunnel towards Carter's estate and then turn left to a Wither skeleton hunting area past his portal. Then you go down the bridge that's on the second left and keep going until you hit a latter, go up and then through the portal and now you're at the Mushroom biome. The way back is just as risky. The portal to the Mushroom biome is close to Carter's tunnel and it was made before the Hub was built and the biome was found in January.

The tunnel before I started making it. Where I was standing when the picture was taken, it was a wall of Carter's tunnel and the stairs that led to the wall only to stop a block short.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I took out the Netherrack steps and then added stone brick stairs. I also started making the wall, keeping it in the same pattern as this part of Carter's tunnel. The redstone lamps are added to give the tunnel some light.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I removed the dirt cause it looks ugly as a floor and it doesn't match well. Then the stone bricks were added to match the tunnel's floor and stairs. I left the glowstone there on purpose Cause it's fine where it is and it'll light up the room around the portal more.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Once the walls had been built, I started making the ceiling, it has the same pattern as the walls. It's now safer from Ghasts and it's
also safe to get in and out of the Mushroom biome through the portal. I was getting tired of those pesky Ghasts anyways and the lag is making it worse.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

The portal is now completely safe from Ghasts and they can't attack you. But the the room the portal is in looks like a Windowless box. I'm going to add some windows behind the portal and on the right side. I was thinking about adding 2 on the back and one on the right side. The left wall can't have a window since it's covered by netherrack.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Some more shots of the tunnel. As you can see, it had taken me like 5 hours to work on it.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

There's no more latter that leads to the portal since I took it down while making the tunnel since it's no longer needed. The dirt that the latter is held on is also removed. How to get to the portal, all you need to do is to go to a tunnel that's next to a portal with emerald corners in the main part of the Nether hub. Then go up a stair way and head down Carter's tunnel. After the right turn, you make a left turn at the first tunnel at the left. Go down it and go through the portal, now you're at the Mushroom biome. The mushroom biome's a little messy at the moment, but I'll go clean it up and place mooshrooms in their pen near that portal once the windows had been added.

Stay tune for more updates. Wink

Wow, Nice work! Be sure to add some sign posts to help people find the way!

Are you planning on building anything in the mushroom biome?

What's R3DCRAFT? I never heard of it. The only thing I use as a plugin is texture packs and I'm using Fateful 32x.

Oh. Why the person that found the Mushroom biome quit? It's a really nice find and it's the first Munshrrom biome that I found attached to the mainland.

I placed a sign at the start of Carter's tunnel to his estate. It's above his Estate sign. I'm going to move the sign onto the Mushroom biome tunnel to tell people that the biome is in that tunnel.

I'm planing to make a mooshroom pen somewhere near the portal so there's easy access to the mooshroms. Then I'll make a little hut that has farming supplies and extra mushrooms. A wheat farm will be added to supply the wheat for mooshroom breeding. There will be a community chest as well since there's stuff that anyone could find useful. A fence will be added to separate the mushroom biome from the jungle biome just in case someone was wondering around at night and they can be safe from most mobs. The biome is free for anyone to use as long they have a silk touch shovel and replant the mushrooms they take down.

Silk touch shovel is good for picking up Mycelium. A silk touch axe would be nice sine I don't have a silk touch book.

Here's an update on the project. Most of it was done in the Mushroom biome.

I placed signs telling where the Mushroom biom portal and Carter's estate is.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I started making he windows for the room where the portals is located.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

The first 2 windows at the back.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

The third window at the right.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

All three of the windows together.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Carter came for a visit while I was lighting up the area so I can see what I'm doing at night. He was following me around until I noticed him in a Mooshroom.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I took out the 5 abandoned beds and the dead portals and placed them in a nearby chest I made. There was a mine, but I closed it up since it's no longer needed. Once that's taken care of, I started taking down the ugly bridge on 2 large mushrooms.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I started building the storage/farming house, as you can see it's close to the portal for convince. I started a mushroom farm behind the building since I need the mushroom stalks for the walls. And I'm also planing using the tops of the mushrooms for the building as well.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Once the walls had been made, I added the floor.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I did a little terraforming so it's at the same level as the doors and I can place the pressure plates in front of the doors.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

That part of the mushroom biome isn't connected to the main part, so I made a dirt bridge so they can be connected and look like it's a part of the biome.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

There was a random wheat farm in the water, so I removed it. Once the farm was removed, it left some current scares. I fixed it so it looks normal again.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

There was a pen with Mooshrooms and near by was a furnace, a chest, and a crafting table. I took out the signs at the pen since they won't be needed at the moment. The chests, furnace, and crafting tables are already removed.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I added double doors and pressure plates. There are one set at each side of the hut.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I started making the roof.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Once the roof had been made, I started adding windows.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

An Endermen is paying a little visit while it's raining outside. It didn't spawn in there, it teleported from a near by forest.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Here's all of the sides of the storage/farming hut.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I added some mushrooms in flower pots.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Chests are now in the hut.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Furnaces are placed around the hut as well.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I started making the Wheat farm. The water source is under the glow stone.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Unfortionatlly, you can't put farmland on mycelium, so I had to dig out the area to revert them into dirt blocks. As soon as the block was place, I had to turn it into farmland quickly before the mycelium get to it.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

The area was successfully turned into farmland. The fence is there to keep mooshrooms from trampling the farm.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

The farm is placed close to the hut. Much better then the old farm.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Seeds have been planed and the sign was placed.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

There's a community chest by the front door.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Item frames are placed on the chests so it easy to tell what's in them and where the items go.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

A new pen for the mooshrooms. A sign was also placed there.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

The pen is also placed close to the hut.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Showing how far away these mooshrooms are from the portal, wheat farm, and hut.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I killed some mooshrooms for leather to make item frames with earlier. These mooshrooms are happy to go to their new home as I take down their old pen.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

After taking them to their new pen, I bred them. Now they're happy about their new pen since it's bigger.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

There's more to come, so stay tune! Wink

lol that's a lot of pictures
the best part of a mushroom biome is that you don't have to worry about mobs
gah, should've thought about setting up my base in a mushroom biome instead =3=

Now we just need one of thoughs high-tech auto cow breeder/cookers in the biome, so we don't have to waste our swords on the cows. I do have a design for one, but I haven't full built it before, so if I can get it working do you want me to build one there?

I love the step by step screen shots! And I love your attention to detail, tidying up the place, and putting things back so they look natural. I do that as I go round the server, I wish everyone did it!

Sure, you can build one there for the mooshrooms when you get a chance. It'll be really helpful for everyone.

Thanks! I always like keeping things natural, that's the goal for the storage/farming hut. It fits the biome very well.

Here's the finishing touches on the Mushroom biome Storage/farming hut and the surrounding area.

After I afked in Wil's iron farm and going to the Wither farm, me and Venom went to a clear away away from my villagers and farms to build a cage to spawn the Wither and fight it. I didn't close up the hole on the top of the Wither cage and it went loose. Venom died and I ran away and died in a shallow lake. We had to get Nathen to kill the Wither since it's loose and dangerous. Once Nathen killed it, he gave me my Nether star.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I crafted a beacon, went back to the mushroom biome and started making the pyrimide for the beacon. The beacon is there in case someone got lost and a jump boost.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Now the beacon is all set up, I started to cover up the base to make it blend in.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

The beacon is covered up. I didn't place anything on the top or else it'll block the beacon's power.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I moved an enderchest and crafting table into the storage/farming hut.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

The area looks a bit barren, so I placed and grew some mushrooms so it can look nicer.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

I moved the things into the chests where they need to go and started taking my things back home. Here's the screenshots of all of the chests. This is the community chest.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Food and leather chest.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Mushroom chest, full free to take what ever you need.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Farming chest.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

Chest for bone and bone meal. I got all of the bones from the skele farm in the village and from the Wither farm.
[Only admins are allowed to see this image]

It took 3 days for me to build and work on this area in the mushroom biome. It's public and free for everyone to use. Enjoy! :D

Oh, and it was funny about the Wither! lol.

I killed one in a box the other day, I constructed the Wither, leaving off the middle skull. Built the box around it, leaving a 1 block gap to place the final skull through. Loads of time to close the gap, even if you didn't I don't think it could fit through that gap? How did you not have time to close it up?!

If you get a looting III sword, it's better than using a auto-breeder.

The Wither cage me and Venom set up was 7X4X5. When the Wither spawned, it started to poke it's middle head through the top hole I was trying to close. When he released his explosion, he managed to glitch out since the cage was too small. What is the recommended size for the Wither cage so he won't glitch out again? I'm going to recreate what happened in creative to see where we did wrong.

that is big enough? o.o i usually cover the whole thing up immediately after i place the final skull

i tried it in creative before with the smallest cage possible where it was just nice to fit the 4 soul sands and the 3 skulls

I broke one block at the bottom and started attacking its feet. if it glitches out, then it must be because it's multiplayer?

I've figured out the problem. I was trying to cover up the hold where his head is in the way and it won't let me cover it up right away. The block should be above the hole to cover it up to keep the Wither from escaping. I'll explain to Venom what happened what we should have don better.
